Set your drive up in just a few simple steps

Be sure to fully read and follow the instruction manual that came with your drive!

After connecting the line and load to the drive use the display area picture (Fig 4.2) to follow these steps. Power the drive up and do these 7 (or maybe) 9 steps to do a quick setup.

In the upper left on the display you will see the menu. In this menu you can toggle through the parameter groups - we will just use the top group "PARAM" for now. The display will be in monitor mode, press the ENTER MENU button on the right side of the keypad PARAM will be the first group you see in the upper left, press ENTER MENU again to go into the parameter settings. Using the UP/DOWN keys scroll to parameter P0204 this is the factory reset - on new drives you don't have to do this but I'm in the habit of always checking this in case someone changed something.

Set P0204 to 5

Set P0401 to your motors nameplate current.

Set P0402 to your motors nameplate RPM.

Next arrow down to P0100 this is Acceleration ramp (factory set to 10 seconds) leave it there and adjust later if needed.

Next arrow up to P0101 this is Deceleration ramp (factory set to 10 seconds) leave it there and adjust later if needed.

Scroll up to P0133 Minimum speed in Hz (factory setting is 3 Hz) leave it there.

Next arrow up to P0134 Maximum speed in Hz (factory setting is 66Hz) CHANGE this to 60Hz -enter to save and hit BACK/ESC to get back to the monitor screen.

That was easy!

Two convenient features the Weg drives have is the LOC/REM button (we'll save that for another time)

The other one is the display comes with a JOG button - to adjust the speed of the jog function go to parameter P0122 Jog reference (factory setting is 5 Hz) you can change the jog speed there.

Want the display to read in RPM? Go to parameter P0209 reference engineering unit and change it from the factory setting of 13 (Hz) to 3 (RPM) Then go to parameter P0208 (Ref Scale Factor) change this to your motors nameplate RPM. Finally lets change parameter P0210 (Ref Decimal Point) and change to 0. The drive will now display the RPM when running and when in jog mode.

We have a drive set up here to go over all these things and also some remote wiring with you. Just stop in when you have time!
